Description of PC Disk Clone X PC Disk Clone backup computer hard drive and partition to another drive or alternatively in image files. It has a bunch of exclusive features. Large drive to small drive, small drive to large drive can both be done. Disk layout and partition size are implicitly resized to match your target drive size. Disk to Disk, Partition to Partition
When moving disk data from one computer to another, you always want to copy everything from old PC to the new one and use it right away. Disk to Disk and Partition to Partition functions are designed to accomplish these. If the target drive is much larger than the old one, PC Disk Clone X extends the old disk layour size or partition size to the maximum point of your new hard drive. If your new drive is smaller than the old one, PC Disk Clone X shrinks the disk layout size or partition size to fit all the data into the smaller space. Everything is automatic and free of further operations.
Disk to Image, Image to Disk
Back up entire hard disk protects everything. But more conveniently, the disk image file are composed of several partition image files, therefore you may also restore a particular partition from one of the files in the disk image. The largest advantage of these functions is to store the image files where ever you want, like USB hard drive, and keeps using other spaces for other files. You may also store the image files in a remote server too!
Partition to Image, Image to Partition
Back up a partition to an image file is usually used for system partitions. This feature can help you to backup only system drives and use the image files as system restoration resource when Windows crashes. In fact, other partitions which are not part of Windows system do not need to back up in clone mode, since all the files are good enough to be backed up by using file backup utilities like PC File Backup. Clone means more than backup, it means identical and much harder than file backups.
Extend Disk layout, Extend Partition size
When cloning to larger disk or restoring image to larger disk, the disk layout is extended to use all available disk space of the target hard drive. When cloning to larger partition or restoring partition image to larger partition, the partition size is extended to the original size of the target partition. Create disk instant snapshot
Using Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy service, PC Disk Clone X can make a snapshot of the computer hard drive very easily. This feature make sure the backups using snapshots are intact and the files are in consistent state. This feature is very important when you clone a system drive, since the system is constantly reading and writing data from and through hard drive very frequently and a snapshot prevents data inconsistency.
Clone only used blocks or all blocks
You can clone only used blocks or all blocks. Used blocks are those blocks which store data. Used blocks mode can save a lot of disk space and time. However, cloning all blocks sometimes is neccessary. When a hard disk with defective areas, it's always need to be copied to another disk before any recovery procedure, and the copy should be all blocks. Doing data recovery will also need this similar copy.
